Implants

Dental Implants

Dental implants are one of the best ways to replace missing teeth; a dental implant is a small titanium ‘root’, which is carefully placed into the jawbone to provide support with a replacement crown, bridge or denture.

Rather than resting on the gum-like removable dentures, or using adjacent teeth as anchors like fixed bridges, dental implants are long-term permanent replacements. The dental implant acts as a root replacement and is used to support crowns, bridges or dentures to increase stability and reduce gum tissue irritation, thus providing you with replacement teeth that look, feel and function nearly like your natural teeth before.

Single Dental Implants

Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that is concerned with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of malocclusions and other irregularities of the teeth and surrounding structures. Orthodontics is a specialty recognized by the American Dental Association. Orthodontics is an important part of dentistry and is used to improve dental health.

There are a number of treatments available for orthodontic problems. Depending on the severity of the problem, different treatment options are used. In some cases, a simple treatment may be sufficient to solve the problem. In other cases, a more complex treatment is required.

Complete Jaw Implant Rehabilitation

This technique is used to permanently install fixed complete dentures in the Jaw 4-6 dental implants may be sufficient to support a full denture, it is sometimes indicated to proceed with the insertion of five, six, eight or even ten implants.

The number of implants needed is mostly influenced by the jawbone quality and quantity, as well as its stability.

It is common to use 6 implants or more to support a full denture on the upper jaw. Fixed dentures on the lower jaw rarely require more than 6 implants.

Implants as support for Removable Denture

This consist of a traditional denture secured to titanium implants that screw down or lock into place so they will not shift in the mouth or fall out during jaw movement. The stability of an implant denture is of greatest importance in the lower jaw where traditional dentures are notoriously unstable causing discomfort and frustration.

Implant dentures can be either removable or fixed depending upon the unique needs of the patient. Several types include:

Bar-supported: A fully implant-supported removable option. A thin metal bar follows the jaw line between the implants and is attached to four to six implants. Clips fabricated into the underside of the dentures, attach to the bar and secure it firmly in place.

Snap-retained: A tissue-supported and implant-retained removable option. Each implant has a snap-type metal abutment attachment that securely retains the denture in place.

Hybrid denture: A fully implant-retained and fixed option. A custom milled bar supporting aesthetic acrylic teeth or a milled zirconia bridge screw onto six to eight implants for a fully fixed solution.

Rather than resting on the gum like removable dentures, or using adjacent teeth as anchors like fixed bridges, dental implants are long-term permanent replacements. The dental implant acts as a root replacement and is used to support crowns, bridges or dentures to increase stability and reduce gum tissue irritation, thus providing you with replacement teeth that look, feel and function nearly like your natural teeth.
